Schools transactions update 19 June 2026

Read an update on P1 and S1 places – mark your N5 and P7 leavers if you've not already done so. There's also on the recent free school meals automatic awards.

P1 and S1 school allocations update

We've been busy over the past weeks dealing with late requests and changes resulting in offers to children on waiting lists where we can.

Both the P1 EPR system and SEEMiS provisional allocations for S1 places re up to date update but we expect there will be further changes during the last week of term and throughout the summer holiday.

Mark your N5 and P7 leavers

You should by now have marked your N5 and P7 leavers - if you haven't please do so before end of term.

Transactions sent out spreadsheets to nurseries with the details P1 destination schools - these were a snapshot of the position on 31 May so some are subject to change.

If you know of any places being declined for places in independent schools or outside Edinburgh, please let us know - see below.

What if a place is no longer required?

If parents contact you advising they no longer require a place, please use the contact form to let us know. However, you don't need to tell us about:

  • Places in special schools and classes - these are allocated by the Education Resource Group. We withdraw these places as and when these are confirmed to us. If you believe a pupil has been allocated a place in a special school or class and they still show on your provisional intake, contact us and we'll check.
  • Nursery deferrals - these are notified to us by Early Years. We’ve already deleted enrolments for all known approved deferrals.

If a family is moving to a new address within Edinburgh, please advise the parent to complete the change of address form.

Free school meals, milk and clothing grants

We have been able to automatically award over 7000 children free school meals for the 2026/27 session, and parents were notified by email this week. The majority have already been approved on SEEMiS which will allow parents to book their lunches for the first week of term.

Applications have now opened for families who were not auto-awarded and these will be processed over the summer.

The summer holiday FSM payment is £80 and will be paid to all families in receipt of FSM for the 2025/26 session on Monday 22 June.

Education Maintenance Allowance

We planned to open EMA applications at the beginning of June, however the Scottish Government has not yet confirmed funding for the 2026/27 session. We expect that this will be confirmed in the next weeks and we will then email the parents of all age-eligible pupils to advise applications are open.

Next update

The next update will follow in August once the handover of the P1 and S1 placements is completed.

If you have any enquiries please continue to use our contact form.

In the meantime, Transactions wishes you a very happy summer holiday!
