P1 registrations update

Read to find out the next steps in the registration process.

The deadline for entering your P1 registrations was Friday 22 November. Thank you for inputting these on SEEMiS.  If you have any still to do, please enter these within the next week as we will start to compile stats for the January intake meeting.

In the run up to the meeting, we will be busy looking at the registration detail and solving any discrepancies over addresses or pupil records.

Pupils not yet registered

If you have not entered registrations because there is an issue, i.e. address proofs not sufficient or not provided yet, please let us know using the contact form. Please don't leave them as they risk not being included in your total.

If you are in a nursery, or a primary school with a nursery class, you can check where pupils are registered. Download and read this guide to find out how to do this. If there are any not yet registered, please chase up the parents and remind them to register, even if they plan to apply for a further year in nursery.

Address changes

Some parents have tried to register in school with an address they are not yet resident at. Registration is only for pupils who are currently resident in your catchment area. Any future changes should be reported to us by the parent using the change of address form. We will take care of the registration and let you know once it has been completed.

Children living between two addresses

Where parents are separate, the appropriate catchment school is the address of the parent named as the main contact on their SEEMiS / NAMS record. In some cases parents have tried to register at the other parent's address. It is not simply a case of choosing their preferred catchment school and addresses should not be changed on the nursery record without good reason - changing it purely for the purposes of school allocation is not good reason.

If you have any doubts about validity over a parent's claim about their child's address, let us know. We have a 'responsibility test' - a set list of quetions which we will ask in order to determine the 'main' residence for school allocation purposes.

Next update

The next update will come in January 2020 after the school intake meeting has taken place.
